All the anticipation, secrecy and hype around the new Zen turned out be just like Matrix 3. They boasted about a fully locally designed new car with total makeover and all kind of nonsense. And all that the new Zen is, is plain cosmetic. No new engine, no mechanical changes nothing. Even surprising is the lack of publicity. There was a wave of press releases but little advertising, and when I open today's newspaper, I see a full page ad of Santro and nothing from Maruti!
Somewhere on the road yesterday evening, I noticed a big display hoarding from the Bangalore Police saying "chain snatchers often come raiding on a bike or also come by walk. Beware!" I wonder what is this supposed to mean... To be careful of everyone who is riding and walking?
I have noticed in the past that a good number of the messages from the government organizations tend to be meaningless and sometimes funny. This one I saw when driving somewhere in TamilNadu: "avoid accidents(!)" It should take one hell of a genius to come up with such quotes. The best one I have seen was in the busy Chowrangee lane in Kolkata. It was an announcement by Calcutta Electricity Board that read: "hooking is crime and is punishable by imprisonment". I moved on wondering why would an electricity board put up such a display. After walking for a few minutes, I saw one more from CEB that read "theft of electricity is now punishable by imprisonment" and I got enlightened.
One of these days when I was not doing anything, I thought I'll take a picture of my (pretty)handset.
The bright white square you see on the display is the reflection of tv! I guess I should have tried a nice wallpaper that would have looked better on the 64K color screen ...
